Why become a PHC Carer?

As a PHC Carer you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives by helping them with all the things that most of us take for granted, enabling them to remain independent and continue living in their own home.

We specialise in providing care to young housebound adults as well as the elderly and disabled. Our services are available directly to those that want to manage their own care arrangements, through their family or through their local authority where we work closely with GPs and Social Services.

As a PHC Carer you would be responsible for providing care in people’s homes or their place of residence, which might be a hospital or a respite care home.

You would be helping with a wide variety of day-to-day activities including personal care, lightweight household tasks, shopping and importantly providing genuine companionship to those in need of care. Many of the people that our carers support may not see anyone from one day to the next, so the role the PHC Carer plays can be vitally important to helping people stay in touch with their local community and feel like they still matter.

What you will need to become a trusted PHC Carer

phc-careers-2You should have your own transport to enable travel between the different locations that we provide our services to. You should ideally have had experience providing care in people’s homes or in a dedicated care home.

The following key skills and experience would also be of real advantage:

  • Be self-motivated and adaptable
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Be approachable and an empathetic listener
  • Have good verbal and written communication
  • Have an understanding of disabled people’s needs
  • Be conscientious and punctual
  • Be good humoured
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Be well organised
  • Able to delegate
  • Enthusiastic and a good motivator
  • Tactful and discrete

For those wanting to enter the caring profession and can demonstrate a real passion for what we do, we offer a full on and off the job-training programme that is overseen by PHC Home Care senior management.

We also offer good rates of pay and a wide range of days and hours to suit your availability, however we do expect our carers to be as flexible as possible. Meeting the needs of the people we care for is paramount and this can often include urgent help during unsociable hours.

Now would be a good time to consider working for PHC Home Care as we are able to offer a great opportunity for genuine career progression in a business that has ambitious growth plans for the coming months and years.
